Girls cosplaying at guys?

Hey! I'm a plus sized female and I want to cosplay as Red-haired Shanks from One Piece. Is it weird for girls to cosplay as guys or not? I would also love different suggestions for a character I could play with my burgundy hair. I don't want to alter my hair color. I was thinking Alveda from One Piece pre-weightloss, but idk. Any suggestions? I'm into sci-fi, doctor who, one piece, harry potter, and renaissance. Thank you!
