For New Yorkers only: Where would you rather live - Hoboken or Williamsburg and why?

Please answer only if you are familiar with both places. I'm a yuppie who works in the city. Proximity to Manhattan is necessary b/c my commute is a nightmare. I am buying 1 br condo. I like Williamsburg, but it is quite expensive, and is swarming with hipsters (which I don't really mind, but I don't think I could stand the "hipper than thou" and "I dress better than you" attitude on a daily basis). But at the same time I love that its young and has an intellectual and artsy vibe. I like Hoboken b/c its prettier, has a European small city feel to it, and slightly cheaper (though taxes are higher). I prefer the charm and character of brownstones vs. the new condos sprouting up in Williamsburg. But Hoboken is in Jersey, and more importantly, it's not NY! It also sort of has a college town feel, and is too "white", but at least is more diverse in terms of age. On a last note, my family and friends are mostly in Queens/LI area. What do you guys think?
