When would spotting occur after missing a pill?

I had a few discrepancies in the time I wastaking my pill last week. Over a week later after those descrepancies I'm experiencing some light pink spotting. Would spotting occur directly after I miss a pill or could it happen this long after? I did have about 5 or 6 days after I had the little problem with my pill. Could I be experiencing breakthrough bleeding?
