If God loves us so much, why is he willing to punish us so harshly by sending some of us to eternal pain?

YOU send yourself to Hell by choosing to follow Satan instead of the Lord. Hell is Satan's domain. If you choose God, you get eternal paradise. The choice is your alone. Don't blame God.
