tell her you will keep it in your room at night with the door closed. litter box in your room, you will change the litter 2 times a week, she will not smell the litter ever. If she does, you will just have to scoop and clean it more. If its a little kitten, it cant be an outdoor cat. Show her you are taking care of it and truly love it. If you leave, put it in your room with the door closed. When you are home you can let it out. Only until your mom warms up. When she finally starts to appreciate the cat, then you can sit down with her and the kitty and show her how cute she is, just dont do it too soon. Good luck!
