FIRST TIME WEARING MAKE-UP?

My stepmom is 42 years old and she has never worn make-up because she does not know how to. Since mother's day is in 2 days I want to get her a make-up starter kit. Where can i go to buy her one for a low price? and some sort of book or magazine to show her how to use it?
