Can anybody tell me how I can use broken mirror pieces in a mosaic project????

Craft stores sell an epoxy that you mix up and poor onto the surface. It is self-leveling so the surface will be smooth even though your mirror pieces are on top of the original surface. It creates a beautiful high gloss surface that is very durable.
